Across the ditch: Recruiter launches broker-specific jobs site

A new jobs board specifically for mortgage and finance brokers in Australia has been launched by an experienced financial services recruiter

A new jobs board specifically for mortgage and finance brokers has been launched by an experienced financial services recruiter.

Speaking to Australian Broker, Zak Wilford, who runs his own recruitment firm after working as a business sales executive across the Finsure Group, said he launched the job site to increase transparency in the industry.

“I am trying to increase the visibility of the market for people who are looking to move. There are so many groups out there with an appetite to grow – aggregators, sub-aggregators and the big brokerages – and they are looking to hire people all the time. I’m basically trying to give a comparison of which is the best opportunity.

“I just wanted to give visibility to people who want to join the industry or want to move within the industry.”

The site, WorkInFinance.com.au, is an industry-specific job board, similar to Seek, but aimed at mortgage brokers and aligned industries. However, companies or brokerages can create company profiles detailing what support they offer and what type of brokers they want to attract, as well as post job opportunities.

On the other side, brokers looking for opportunities can create a candidate profile and apply through the platform.

Wilford told Australian Broker that from his experience as a recruiter, this fills a big gap in the broker market where there is several aggregators vying to build market share. But the reality is, not every aggregator suits every broker.

“It is something I just saw a gap in the market for. I speak to so many brokers that are looking to move or brokers who are looking to get into the industry and there is some confusion,” he said.

“They don’t really know where to go or they don’t really know what the role of an aggregator or what a sub-aggregator does. They end up maybe just meeting Aussie or one of the big brands and thinking that is the best offer, but in reality they could go somewhere else and get more support for what they need.

“What this site will allow brokers to do is to see everything in one place.”

The site went live a week ago but Wilford said it has already garnering much positive feedback, with seven companies already using the platform to advertise opportunities.
