Adviser survey reveals top bank

Westpac is the bank that mortgage advisers have rated highest in performance for 2017, making it the winner of the Advisers on Banks survey for a second year in a row.

In the annual survey, mortgage advisers across New Zealand rated the performance of the banks they have dealt with in the past year across a range of criteria.

Westpac came top in seven of the eleven categories, being ranked highest for BDM support, communication and engagement, credit policy, electronic lodgement, product diversification opportunities, product range and training & development.

Westpac also won Product of the Year with advisers rating the Choices Home Loan the best for its flexibility and competitive interest rates.

ANZ was the second highest performing bank overall, being rated top for commission structure and second highest for BDM support, interest rates and training & development.

ASB placed third overall, ranking highest in turnaround times while taking second and third highest spots in the majority of the other categories.

BNZ was ranked above the other banks on interest rates and SBS Bank topped the rest on clawback policy.

When it came to which criteria advisers felt were most important, turnaround times took the majority, closely followed by credit policy and interest rates while electronic lodgement was considered least important.
