'Darwin and Beyond' event announced for NZ and Aussie mortgage advisers

A major industry association in Australia will hold a two day event in 2016 focusing on finance and wealth industries in the Asia-Pacific region

The Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) has announced a new initiative called “Darwin and Beyond” taking place next year to help businesses from Australia, New Zealand and Asia connect to develop a better regional awareness.

The Professional Advisers Association (PAA) CEO Rod Severn told NZ Adviser those who are interested should secure a place soon because numbers are limited.
“I think for those that have a real interest in the Asian market this is an opportunity to understand a lot more about it,” Severn says.

“I would encourage any advisers that want to understand more about how to do business in Asia or to have Asian businesses do business (in New Zealand) to book early because there are only 300 seats and they will go very quickly.”

The event will be held from 8-10 June 2016 in Darwin and will focus on developing connections, strategies and services along with case studies of successful business people from within the region.

“Australian and New Zealand stakeholders have expressed interest in opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region,” MFAA CEO Siobhan Hayden stated.

“We see this event as a chance for professionals to learn, network and evaluate how they might do business with other countries.

“We have had a greater response from businesses already engaged within the region, so this type of practical real life experience is often the key to the success or failure of such ventures. Aside from business reasons, the program is designed to allow an amazing cultural emersion at local attractions in one of Australia’s most diverse cities.”
