NZFSG introduces new head of customer outcomes

NZFSG has appointed Keri Ball-Guymer as its head of customer outcomes, a new role created to develop and implement NZFSG’s compliance and regulatory frameworks.

Ball-Guymer will be joining on December 14 from ANZ Bank, where she was head of quality assurance for commercial and agri. She also previously held various roles with ANZ Wealth, Kiwibank and Gareth Morgan Investments, and has experience across a range of areas within financial advice, risk and compliance.

NZFSG head of strategy Brendon Neal said Ball-Guymer will be focusing on getting the organisation’s frameworks up standard, particularly when it comes to its tech tools and adviser audit process.

“We’re going to need to have pretty stringent compliance frameworks, so we’ll need to build that out in terms of our technology tools,” Neal commented.

“We’ll also need to audit the adviser businesses under our license, look at their processes and ensure they comply with the regulation, and with what our license requires.”

“Keri will be sitting on the executive team, and will be in charge of the wider roll-out of that,” he explained.

“It’s been great to bring her across from ANZ Bank, as she’s already been part of QFEs with mature risk frameworks, whereas we’re part of a market that’s still somewhat ‘bedding in’. She’s going to really help us build out our capabilities on that front.”

NZFSG recently merged with fellow adviser group Kepa, and is currently in the process of integrating the two groups and bringing them on to one platform. Neal says that Bell-Guymer’s broad range of experiences across financial services will be a solid asset for the expanded team, which specialises in home loans, personal insurance and wealth management.

“Keri was with ANZ Wealth and Kiwibank, so she has a lot of experience on the wealth side – but also with lending quality assurance and risk,” Neal said.

“Given the size of our mortgage and insurance arm, we really needed someone with experience in both sectors, so it’s been great to bring in someone who can bring both the lending and the insurance expertise.”

Commenting on her appointment, Ball-Guymer said: “I am looking forward to joining NZFSG and working with Brendon and the broader team to help the organisation build on their momentum and to help create great outcomes for advisers and their customers. NZFSG is demonstrating a deep commitment to best practice standards of regulatory compliance and client care at an exciting and challenging time for the industry.”
