There has been much comment about Kiwi Build homes, but because of the Land cost , first home buyers will probably have to move to the Christchurch suburbs or surrounding towns to afford a new home. It is worth viewing Mike Greers homes in Te Rito Street just off Prestons Road in Marshlands, which were three bedrooms with very small living and very restrictive land area. These were on the market for $470 000.
His other subdivision is in Blakes road ... Spring Grove ... behind the Northwood Supa Centre. To achieve prices young or first home buyers
can afford, these are examples of what he will build, and regardless of our individual opinions, these are CHRISTCHURCH CITY homes.
With sections of 450m2 priced at $243000 in Christchurch, Towns surrounding the City with sections from $130 000 up to $180 000, offer
a percentage of first homes buyers a really viable option. Of course the access to work , friends, and family could have an influence on decisions. If the Government is really serious, how about the State Advances scheme of the 1960's. ???????
