Blockchain app gets support

Fiduciary service firm first to use new verification technology

Blockchain app gets support
Perpetual Guardian is the first New Zealand company to use Tradle NZ’s blockchain technology that allows users to share a single personal ID verification with other organisations.

Tradle NZ has developed an app that allows users to upload ID documentation, have it verified, and then share that single verification.

Perpetual Guardian said the service has ramifications for compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act, which imposes extensive new diligence, monitoring and reporting obligations on lawyers and accountants.

Perpetual Guardian head of IT Willem van der Steen said: “For Perpetual Guardian and our customers it is important to make the Know Your Customer pain point of constantly having to prove who they are, often to people who have known them for years, disappear.

“We expect our work with Tradle NZ will make our customer experience seamless and easy, with the potential for them to even do all their interacting with us from home. This new and exciting technology will also make the process less stressful for our staff and remove unnecessary layers of time-consuming process from their days,” van der Steen said.

Tradle CEO and co-founder Gene Vayngrib said: “We are excited to enter the next phase in our path to success with such a great partner.

“And it is a great achievement to have landed our first client in New Zealand well before July 2018, when AML phase 2 comes into effect,” Vayngrib said.
