Brokerage hires new Dunedin adviser

Financial services group Plus4 has announced the hire of Dunedin adviser Tom West, a University of Otago graduate with over 10 years’ experience in financial services.

West spent six years running his own advice company, Tom West Risk Advisers, and had previously spent seven years in Seoul teaching English as a second language. He also spent over nine years with Crombie Lockwood as a senior health and life broker.

West is a Registered Financial Adviser (RFA) and offers advice on life insurance, income and mortgage protection, disability, trauma and health insurance, and also handles businesses, key person and group plans. His clients include a mix of professional firms, farmers, small to medium business owners and individuals.

Plus 4 Group was established in Nelson in 2008, and now has over 50 advisers working from 17 locations across New zealand.

Plus4 general manager Peter Standish welcomed West to the team, stating that the group is “very selective” about who it chooses to join.

“Tom is an experienced and highly regarded financial services professional who has established a successful practice in Dunedin,” Standish said.

“Given that Plus4 is a cooperative, the only specialist insurance and financial broking firm who is a member of the NZ Cooperatives Association, we are very selective about whom we ask to join our group. Our members need to not only have the necessary experience and expertise but also share our values.

“We are pleased to welcome Tom to Plus4.”
