Chinese Commercial banking giant opens first branch in New Zealand

CCB opens branch in Auckland

China Construction Bank (CCB) has opened its first branch in Auckland, the bank announced yesterday.

CCB has had a presence in New Zealand via a subsidiary since 2014, and in December last year, RBNZ registered the bank.

CCB said the branch would give the bank “far greater range and reach of operations and enable more innovative product offerings. The branch will operate alongside its subsidiary.”

“Bringing the global capabilities of CCB, one of the largest Chinese commercial banks, to the New Zealand market will support infrastructure development and grow trade and investment, says the Chairman of China Construction Bank Corporation,” CCB chief executive Guoli Tian.

“The opening of this new branch will further enhance CCB’s operational functionality in the Asia Pacific and improve CCB’s comprehensive financial service capability in the Asia Pacific region”, Tian added.
