Finance, real estate among top career choices
The social media network for professionals has revealed its latest analysis of career-related activity to show the top firms that people want to work for.

LinkedIn Top Companies 2017 is based on billions of interactions by more than 500 million users and ranks the data in various countries. Although no specific data is available for New Zealand, there is an Australian ranking.

Firms making the list share certain qualities including a vibrant workplace culture, generous perks, flexible working and equality.

The rankings, which exclude LinkedIn and its parent company Microsoft, consider factors such as job applications, views of the companies on the platform, and how long people have worked at the companies.

Only those companies with at least 500 employees are included in the analysis.

In the US, the tech sector leads the pack with Google-parent Alphabet, Amazon, Facebook, Uber and Apple all in the top ten along with entertainment firms such as Disney and Time Warner.

In Australia though, the finance and real estate sectors have a stronger presence with accounting and professional services firm PwC topping the list, while another of the ‘big four’ KPMG is just behind in second place.

Banks take the next two slots - Westpac and Commonwealth Bank – while Macquarie Group, Suncorp Group, AMP, National Australia Bank and Bank of Queensland complete the financial services representatives in the top 25.

In real estate, Scentre Group and Lendlease feature. CBRE features in the top 25 top companies for the US listings along with JLL.
