First KiwiBuild homes launched in Mangere

Kāinga Ora’s Mangere Development has launched 12 KiwiBuild homes to the Mangere market, the first affordable housing release in the area.

Mike Greer Homes built the homes in the new KiwiBuild project, which includes three three-bedroom apartments priced at $650,000, six two-bedroom apartments at $600,000, and three one-bedroom apartments at $500,000. They are located only 20 minutes from Auckland’s CBD and are close to Middlemore Hospital, Auckland Airport, two universities, and several major employment hubs.

John Callaghan, the national sales manager for Mike Greer Homes, said they built the architecturally designed homes to high specifications that exceed the building code to minimise ongoing maintenance costs and maximise living space.

“There is a range of amenities nearby, too, including schools, parks and playgrounds, upgraded cycleways and walkways, the famous Mangere markets, a thriving arts scene, and Te Pane-o-Mataoho (Mangere Mountain),” Callaghan continued.

Mangere Development confirmed that civil construction on the homes has already started, with completion expected in late 2021.

“This is another great milestone for Mangere Development and a real opportunity for locals to get on to the property ladder in their own neighbourhood at more affordable prices,” said Shanon Tapp, the project director at Mangere Development.

“Later this month, the first homes will become available to purchase off-the-plan, followed by a second KiwiBuild release early next year. It’s rewarding to see our investment into Mangere becoming a reality for people keen to own homes in the area, particularly first-home buyers and those with a connection to the neighbourhood.”
