KiwiBuild starter homes completed, ready for sale

The first KiwiBuild homes at the McLennan development in Papakura, Auckland have been completed and more are on the way, the government says.

The 18 finished KiwiBuild homes will be sold through a ballot, which runs for four weeks and opens on September 10. There are 18 stand-alone home, made up of 12 three-bedroom homes selling for $579,000 and six four-bedroom homes selling for $649,000.

“Our very first KiwiBuild homeowners will wake up this Christmas in their own homes and will soon be joined by many others as KiwiBuild ramps up over the months and years ahead,” Minister of Housing and Urban Development Phil Twyford said.

The minister said 12 additional properties are under construction at the McLennan development and will be completed before Christmas, while further 58 Kiwibuild homes are expected next year.

“In the coming weeks, I’ll be unveiling details of KiwiBuild developments in Waikato, Taranaki, Auckland and the Queenstown-Lakes area,” he said.

The ballot for the first 18 KiwiBuild homes at McLennan opens on September 10, and is for 12 x three-bedroom and 6 x four-bedroom houses. It closes on October 05.
