New TPG partnership aims to support community housing redevelopment

New Zealand is facing a shortage of homes amid the COVID-19 crisis, leaving many Kiwis struggling to find appropriate housing. As a result, The Property Group Limited (TPG) has partnered with central and local government to support community housing redevelopment.

TPG's latest projects include a development feasibility study and preliminary Housing Needs Assessment for Te Puea Memorial Marae's redevelopment in Auckland. It has also been providing services such as transitional housing development and housing needs assessments.

Clinton Fisher, a senior property consultant for development management at TPG, said the projects will help the government to understand current and future housing needs.

“The housing needs assessment for the redevelopment of the Te Puea Memorial Marae enabled us to identify the current and future housing needs within the South Auckland region and informed the number and typologies for public housing on the Marae,” Fisher said.

TPG will also engage with community stakeholders, investigate potential partnership development opportunities, and improve emergency and transitional housing availability as well as the quality of existing public housing.
