The Cooperative Bank has announced David Cunningham as the new chief executive of the bank.

Cunningham has been part of the bank’s leadership team since September 2012 and transitions from his role as general manager customer banking, according to an article from the NZ Herald.

He steps into the position after former CEO Bruce McLauchlan departed the Co-operative Bank at the end of March this year.

Cunningham brings over 20 years of banking experience to the table, including product management and online.

The bank’s chief financial officer, Gareth Fleming has been acting chief executive since March 31.
