Reserve Bank extends new mortgage bond standard consultation

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is extending the consultation period on the new mortgage bond standard.

The extension follows requests made by stakeholders, the regulator stated. The new standard is aimed at supporting confidence and liquidity in the New Zealand markets.

With the consultation period extending by two weeks, submissions now close on March 8. After this, RBNZ will publish submissions and a response to submissions. It will also update the timeline for implementation when final decisions are made, including the decision on the proposed five-year implementation timeline.

Additionally, RBNZ has also published a draft template to assist banks to provide loan-level data under the proposed mortgage bond standard.
