Westpac rolls out updated mobile payments for SMEs

Westpac New Zealand has announced small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can now receive card payments and send invoices, quotes and receipts through the updated Westpac Get Paid app and secured card reader.

Westpac NZ chief product officer Shane Howell said business owners simply needed a Westpac NZ issued secure card reader, which they could then pair with Bluetooth to the Get Paid app on their Apple or Android smartphone, freeing them up to manage their business on the go, anytime and anywhere.

Once interested customers apply for and receive the card reader, they simply download the Get Paid app and they’re good to go.

The app has simple pricing structure. Business owners can also select different levels of access for staff members on their own phones.

“We’ve noticed that cash usage has reduced significantly with many people preferring to use mobile payment methods to buy things,” Howell stated. “This is an exciting area where emerging technology enables us to give our small to medium business customers the freedom to conduct their business quickly and efficiently, wherever they are.”
